i need to decide if i want things to work out, and soon.
i learned to play tiny dancer on the guitar today. (i am perfectly happy serenading myself)
and i made hannah's delicious cape cod lentil soup
i want to go back to los angeles.
(so i keep listening to under the bridge and california stars and the L.A. song (sensitive mix))

also, i have to keep reminding myself that i still have Spanish finals to write and send to the Universitat de Barcelona... I have a whole lotta school for June.

so i'm in Berlin and it's pretty great. i am in school all day, every day from 9 in the morning to 3 in the afternoon. after a week of classes, i can describe myself, my likes and dislikes and i am familiar with the nominative conjugations and the personal, direct, indirect, negative and possessive pronouns (yeah, German can be annoying... especially since i've realized that my German will probably never be as good as the English that an average joe can speak here). I have to ask a lot of people, sprechen Sie Englisch? quite a lot and usually the answer is, "only very little.." but they might as well just say yes because even those who claim to speak very little speak a lot.
I embarrassingly admitted to my entire Beginner 1 German class that „mein Freund wohnt in Berlin" (meaning "my "friend" lives in Berlin." there is no word for boyfriend in German, it's just "my" friend, as opposed to a regular friend who would just be "a" friend. and yes, German quotation marks start at the bottom and end at the top.). there are 8 people in my class. we all get along, we all want to get good at German and we all plan to go karaokeing every Monday at the Irish pub.
it's a good feeling to be living a life separate from but also simultaneous with nick's (for the first time in 8 months!). we don't have to spent 24 hours a day together for periods of a week. we can meet up with each other at U-bahn stations and have dates for ice cream. (Eis zeit! = ice (cream) time). we can even fight and actually get some breathing room because we don't have to live together! (i live in the outskirts of Berlin in a student housing center that has no internet and a clogged shower and i have yet to spend a night there, but it's good to know that i have an alternative to Nick's place). it will be a good summer.
